Questions about the guides or a technical problem can be directed to this site. Questions about a named person, booking record, bond, release, court file, or official photograph must go to the government office that maintains it. The routes below identify the proper Halifax County contact.

This is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record.

Where to Look First

Choose the source based on the record or custody stage.

  • Use the county guide for a booking record, identification photo, roster, or records-request path.
  • Use the Daily Arrest Report for HCSO’s described prior-24-hour released window.
  • Use the Weekly Arrest Log guide for older, multi-day research and its official fallback.
  • Use VINELink for participating custody checks and release or transfer alerts.
  • Use NCDAC Offender Public Information for a sentenced or supervised state offender.
  • Use the federal BOP or ICE locator for federal or immigration custody.

Release and Court Records

The detention FAQ directs release questions to the Magistrate’s Office at 252-593-3019. Court records and official copies belong with the Clerk of Superior Court at 252-593-3000. A jail charge is an accusation at booking, while the court file tracks the later outcome.
